Save Your Brain
Infographic Project Type: Academic Role: Illustration, Infographic Design |
“Save Your Brain” is an infographic that promotes brain health in an indirect way. Geared towards an audience of high school students, the infographic has a zombie theme. Instead of stating the healthy activities people should do to keep their brains healthy, the exact opposite is provided, as zombies thrive on healthy brains. In order to save a brain from being eaten by zombies, people should make unhealthy decisions. This roundabout way of explaining brain health provides high school students with facts while keeping their interest.

Research and Sketches:
Ideas for imagery are drawn from other health infographics. The color palette of greens, blues, and pink is pulled from zombie-related images. The illustration style is inspired by Bob Staake’s geometric drawings, which utilize gradients. Preliminary sketches of the zombie character, as well as other infographic elements, can be seen below.
Digital Sketches:
Digital illustrations of the character were created, experimenting with the idea of a trap line. Once finalized, different poses of the zombie were created for each health tip. Additional graphic elements were created to support the information provided by the infographic.
Texture and Final Illustration:
To give the illustration more texture, a stippled gradient was added to some of the characters and graphic elements. Text and the graphics were laid out in a format that could be used as an elongated poster or a scrolling web page.
